The VMC provides recommendations in response to a request from a national TB expert committee, a technical working group, or individual practitioners. The recommendations are intended for use by the patient's physician based on the patient's individual circumstances and should not be used in the context of the treatment of any other individual. The VMC provides only recommendations that should be considered in the light of the local context and the specific circumstances of the patient, known to the treating physician. The final decision regarding the treatment of the patient remains with his treating physician.
